Fatal House Fire leads to arrest of man impersonating a firefighter

Fatal fire in the early morning hours of Thursday took the life of a still yet unidentified Morganton resident. The fire occurred at 224 Morehead Street at just after 12:00 a.m. In an unusual turn of events, when firefighters arrived a neighbor was on the scene dressed in New York Fire Department gear and attempting to put out the fire with the garden hose. Morganton firefighters began to take over suppression efforts; however, the male refused to vacate the property or allow fire professionals to begin fire ground operations.

Christopher Victor Miglino, 37, of Morganton was charged with Resisting, Delaying and Obstructing Public Officers, Impersonating a Firefighter or Medical Personnel, and Violation of City Ordinance. 

Miglino did not receive bond as he was out on pre-trial release for other offenses.

The cause of the structure fire has still not yet been determined.
