A court order has been issued preventing people from hiking to the top of Hibriten Mountain in Caldwell County without the expressed permission from Hibriten Mountain LLC. The court filings clarifies that the road leading to the top of the mountain is private, although Hibriten Mountain LLC does have a right of way. A judge recently ordered that without express permission from Hibriten Mountain LLC 1hiking, biking, and other activities are off limits. Moving forward it is the responsibility of Hibriten LLC to notify the property owners of the identities of the individuals requesting access to the top of the mountain. Hibriten Mountain marks the western end of the Brushy Mountains range. At 2,211 feet, the mountain’s summit is nearly 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain and stands 77 feet higher in elevation than the city of Asheville.
