Today is the second Republican primary election in the state of North Carolina. Understate law a second place candidate in the primary May request a second primary If no candidate receives more than 30% of the votes cast. In the Catawba Valley two Statewide second primary elections are being held, one for the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor between Hal Weatherman and Jim O’Neill, and one for the Republican nominee for State Auditor between Jack Clark and Dave Bullock. All precincts will be open from 6:30 a.m. till 7:30 p.m., and to vote in this primary individuals must be either registered Republican, registered unaffiliated and voted a republican ballot, or did not vote in the first primary.
