NCDPI Summer Nutrition Program

When school lets out in the Catawba Valley and across North Carolina, low-income children lose access to the school breakfasts, lunches, and afterschool snacks they receive during the regular school year. The Summer Nutrition Programs help fill this gap by providing free meals and snacks to children who might otherwise go hungry.
Each city and county school district in the Catawba Valley region have designated locations that will provide these meals beginning at the end of the school year until school begins in August.
For information about eligibility requirements, participating locations and schedules in your area, you can visit your local school system’s website or contact their main office.
You can also find out more about the Summer Nutrition Program at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s website which also includes the NC Site Finder Map. This interactive map is for families and the general public to find free nutritious meals for children throughout North Carolina.
Summer Nutrition Programs are administered by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s School Nutrition Division as part of a federally funded program through the United States Department of Agriculture.
