WSOC reports that a Burke County man was flown to the hospital with life threatening injuries after a fire destroyed much of his home on Lytle Drive near Glen Alpine. Neighbors described hearing several explosions and then seeing the man on fire in the yard. Another man is being credited with knocking the victim to the ground and extinguishing the flames. The identity of the victim is not yet been released, and investigators said the fire started when the man was trying to fill gas cans.
