The NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that the death of Michael Quinto on January 8 at the Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville was a suicide.
Quinto, 41, was first believed to have died from medical causes, but a recent autopsy report determined manner of death to be suicide.
Quinto was convicted in Brunswick County in 2001 and was serving two consecutive life sentences for two counts of first degree murder, plus more than 20 additional years for two counts of attempted murder and assault on a government officer.
