Town Talks reports that for the second consecutive year Hickory has made the list of the Best Affordable Places to Live in America, ranking #6 by US News and World Report. Of the best affordable places to live, Hickory was the only North Carolina city to make the list.
Hickory has a population of just over 58,000, a median household income of $63,531 and an income spent on living expenses at 22.48%. Hickory also ranked number four in housing affordability nationally. Hickory also ranked number 4th in housing affordability nationally with a median home price at $213,934 and median monthly rent at $890 for North Carolina cities made the list of the Top 25 Best Places to Live they were Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, and Greensboro . Hickory came in at 26th in the overall rankings.
