Stabbing at Long View plant on Friday

PRESS RELEASE: The Long View Police Department
Long View, N.C. – Friday, August 23, 2024 – On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Catawba County Communications Center received a call regarding a stabbing at Shuford Yarns, located at 2815 1st Ave SW, in Hickory.
Long View Police Officers promptly responded to the scene, where they discovered a male employee who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
The Long View Fire Department, alongside Catawba County Emergency Medical Services, provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, who was then transported to a local medical facility. The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The Long View Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division quickly initiated an investigation into the incident. Through diligent efforts, evidence was gathered, and witnesses were interviewed. It was determined that the stabbing occurred inside Shuford Yarns involving two employees.
With the assistance of the Hickory Police Department and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, the Long View Police Department conducted an extensive search, leading to the suspect’s apprehension, identified as Nicholas Aundrey Propst, DOB: 10/25/1982.
Propst was located within the City of Hickory and taken into custody by Long View Police Officers. He was subsequently transported to the Catawba County Justice Center, where he was charged with one count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill/Inflict Serious Injury. Propst is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility under a No Bond, with a court date scheduled for August 28th, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Catawba County Courthouse.
