Caldwell County Animal Care Enforcement Officers with assistance from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department seized 66 animals living in hoarding conditions and arrested Lisa Maria Meatyard, and Karen Renee Harris, both of Greasy Creek Road in Lenoir, on Thursday, September 5th.
Meatyard and Harris face 59 counts of animal cruelty. Meatyard has also been charged with violating the sex offender registry and more charges are pending. Meatyard is currently being held under a $99,000 bond.
Animals seized include 58 dogs, three ducks, a ferret, and four cats. Caldwell County Animal Care Enforcement is caring for the animals until they can be released to vetted rescue groups.
