There was a fatal shooting in the Gamewell Community of Caldwell County Friday (13th) afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting in the Gamewell Community at just before 4:30 p.m. They found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, who has yet to be identified, later succumbed to his injuries.
49-year-old Jeffrey Dwayne Ferguson of Lenoir was arrested and charged with murder. He was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond.
Caldwell County Sheriff Kevin Bean issued a press release saying the investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between acquaintances.
