Alexander Manhunt Shooting Suspect Captured

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 45-year-old Samuel Deal of Taylorsville in connection with the shooting incident that occurred on  Sunday, September 22, 2024. Deal is being charged with: one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny after breaking and entering, one count of larceny of a firearm, one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of felony possession of a firearm by felon, two counts of felony possession of methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of drug equipment/paraphernalia.
Deal is currently being held at the Alexander County Detention Center with no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 30, 2024.
The investigation indicates that the victim, Gregory Cline, returned home to find an intruder inside his residence. During the confrontation, both Mr. Cline and the intruder exchanged gunfire, resulting in Mr. Cline sustaining a minor head injury. He has since been released from the hospital.
Following the incident, law enforcement conducted an extensive manhunt, utilizing K9 units and drones to locate the suspect. The search concluded around 10 PM on September 22.
