The application period for assistance purchasing food through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) will be closing on Thursday, October 24th.
Individuals and households impacted by Hurricane Helene may apply for assistance purchasing food through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Program (D-SNAP). The application period is closing on Thursday, October 24th.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Have suffered losses/damages related to Hurricane Helene, such as property damage or loss of income.
• Have proof of identity and proof of residency (if available).
• Have income and resources below certain levels.
• Not currently receiving benefits through the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program.
Any resident in need of assistance purchasing food is encouraged to complete an application by calling the D-SNAP Virtual Call Center at 1-844-453-1117. While there are income eligibility requirements, a number of considerations are taken into account. Individuals above typical income/resource limits may still be eligible based on disaster expenses.
After completing the application, eligible households will be notified with three (3) days and will receive a one-time benefit on an EBT card to purchase food. The exact amount will depend on household size, income, and disaster losses.
Households already receiving FNS are eligible to receive additional assistance for purchasing food but do not need to fill out a D-SNAP application. For more info, visit the FNS webpage.
