Narcotics Dealer Convicted for Death by Distribution

Newton, N.C. – Kevin O’Neal Carroll has been convicted in Catawba County Superior Court for Death
by Distribution in the homicide of Mariah Leigh Brown. Brown, a Hickory resident, was 32 years of age
at the time of her death.

This investigation began in September of 2023 when Brown was found deceased as a result of a narcotics
overdose. Sheriff’s investigators discovered that Carroll distributed the narcotics to Brown that resulted
in her death.

Carroll was sentenced to 96-128 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.
Sheriff Brown: “We are continuing to send these drug dealers to prison. I’m proud of the work of our
investigative team and our continuing partnership with the District Attorneys Office. Our sentiments
continue to be with the family of Mariah Brown”.
