An Alexander County man has been charged with murder after being accused of killing his grandmother.
At approximately 9:18 PM on November 25th, 2024, the Alexander County 911 center received a call from a concerned family member requesting a welfare check at 194 Russell Gap Rd, Moravian Falls. Deputies were dispatched to the location, where they were unable to get anyone to answer the door. After making entry into the residence, they discovered 86-year-old Betty Kerley Tedder deceased inside, having suffered from apparent trauma. Upon further investigation, deputies found 39-year-old Nathan Lee Lowe inside the residence. Lowe was arrested and charged with the murder of Betty Kerley Tedder. He is also facing an additional charge of Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner. Lowe is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on December 2nd, 2024, in Alexander County District Court.
Nathan Lowe is the grandson of the victim, Betty Kerley Tedder.
