Caldwell County Completes Mandatory Property Revaluation

Caldwell County recently completed its state-mandated property revaluation and have notified owners by mail of the 2025 appraised property values.

“Since the 2021 revaluation, our office has been conducting field visits, reviewing aerial changes, and followed up on permits related property changes to complete the 2025 revaluation,” said Tax Administrator Josh Angle.

The appraisals represent 100 percent of market value, and these values are taken into consideration as cities, towns, fire districts and the county start to consider their budgets.

“We want to assure people that just because your property value is going up, it does not mean your taxes will go up the same amount,” explained Wayne Rash, Assistant County Manager and Register of Deeds.

Tax rates for each jurisdiction —municipal, fire district, and county — will be voted on in June.

To ensure values are fair and equitable, property owners can request a review. The tax department encourages property owners, who suffered structural damages due to Hurricane Helene and did not have the properties repaired by January 1, 2025, to request a review if their assessment does not reflect damage.

Requests for review can be made through the county’s website caldwellcountynctax.com or by calling the Tax Department at 828-757-1428.
