Multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated in a joint operation in Burke County on February 12 and 13, 2025.
Participating agencies included the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, NC Department of Adult Corrections Community Supervision/Probation and Parole, NC Department of Adult Corrections Special Operations and Intelligence Unit, United States Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, Glen Alpine Police Department, Morganton Department of Public Safety, Valdese Police Department, and the NC Department of Prisons State K9 Unit. Burke County EMS was also on standby to address any potential medical emergencies.
The operation focused on ensuring that high-risk offenders were complying with court-ordered conditions while also gathering information regarding narcotics activity, gang involvement, and ensuring sex offender compliance. During the operation, Probation Officers, assisted by officers from the participating agencies, conducted compliance checks on offenders currently under supervised probation due to multiple community complaints and information provided by law enforcement. Officers also served numerous outstanding Probation and Post-Release warrants on offenders and issued new criminal charges.
By the end of this operation, 39 searches were attempted, with 30 successfully conducted, leading to 27 arrests. Among those arrested, three probationers were found maintaining a dwelling for narcotics, including one involved in Fentanyl trafficking. Authorities issued 19 charges for simple possession of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Fentanyl, along with 14 charges for possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, multiple firearms were seized for unlawful possession, including one case involving a felon in possession of a firearm. Several cases remain under investigation
