The City of Lenoir is planning to install new playsets at Mulberry Recreation Center and West End Park.
City Council approved purchasing new playsets earlier this year. Improvements include a new two-year-old to five-year-old play set at West End Park and a new five-year-old to 12-year-old play set and a 12-foot by 12-foot shade structure at Mulberry Recreation Center.
To prepare for the new equipment, City staff have removed one of the old playsets at Mulberry Recreation Center. Staff will mulch the area and it will be available as a free-play space until the new playset arrives. The other playset, swings, climbing tower, and zip line will stay in the playground at Mulberry.
In addition to Mulberry Recreation Center, there is playground equipment at Lenoir Optimist Park, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, and J.E. Broyhill Park.
The City of Lenoir has three recreation facilities and eight parks including:
