CCC&TI Announces First Gift in Support of New Health Sciences Facility from Local Partner Blue Ridge Energy

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute recently celebrated the first major donation in support of its new health sciences facility which is slated to begin construction later this year on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson. Blue Ridge Energy has pledged their financial support of the project with a gift of $100,000 which was presented to the college on Wednesday, March 26.

The new facility will be a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center with a simulated hospital environment and a variety of labs and classroom spaces that will allow the college’s health sciences programs to be co-located in one space. At 65,000 square feet, the facility will be the largest building on the Caldwell Campus when completed. The facility will also allow for the expansion of CCC&TI’s health sciences programs and enable students to learn and train using the latest in modern, cutting-edge medical technologies.

The funds provided by Blue Ridge Energy will help address a variety of costs associated with the project, including outfitting the new facility with the latest in healthcare technology, equipment, and supplies.

“Part of making life better for local communities is supporting essential services such as health care and preparing more workers for these vital roles,” said Katie Woodle, chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Energy.

“We’re grateful to CCC&TI leaders for their vision in expanding access to health sciences education and the positive impact it will have on our area,” added Doug Johnson, retiring chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Energy.

“Blue Ridge Energy has always been an amazing partner for CCC&TI. We’re thankful for their continued support and for leading the way with this significant donation to the college’s health sciences facility,” said CCC&TI President, Dr. Mark Poarch. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we’d like to express our sincere gratitude to Blue Ridge Energy for their financial support of the project and for helping CCC&TI provide the best training possible for our community’s future healthcare workforce.”

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new project is currently being planned for late 2025. The construction phase of the project will take approximately two years. For more information, visit www.cccti.edu.
