Contractors have started building a new greenway connection at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex. The new section of greenway will create a half-mile walking loop around the soccer complex.
The loop will be the most recent improvement at the soccer complex. Earlier this year, the City added a splash pad and picnic shelter on the property. The goal is to add more uses to the complex and draw more people to the park.
“The walking loop will be another great addition to the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex,” Parks & Recreation Director Phil Harper said. “Parents can walk the loop while their children play games. Siblings can play in the splash pad, and the new picnic shelter will provide shade and a place to rest and have a snack.”
City Council approved the project during the April 1, 2025, Council meeting. CH Barlow, LLC will perform grading and build the new greenway.
The project will take about two weeks to finish, barring any unforeseen problems. Visitors will still have access to the parking lots and restrooms. Please avoid the construction area when you are at the soccer complex.
