AMOREM welcomes new volunteer coordinator

VALDESE – AMOREM welcomes Ingrid Link as its new volunteer coordinator in the low country service area.

Link received a Bachelor of Science in special education from Appalachian State University. She retired from 28 years of service to the Caldwell County School System, where she taught special education, middle grades and served as a teacher support specialist.

“I am so excited that Ingrid has joined the Volunteer Services Team,” says Director of Volunteer Services Cyndi Akins. “She is a blessing in many ways and the volunteers already love her. We all look forward to serving alongside Ingrid and are excited to watch our volunteer family grow.”

In her previous roles, Link mentored new teachers, organized school-wide events and was a test-coordinator. Being heavily involved in connecting people with purpose is nothing new to Link.

As a low country Volunteer Coordinator, Link will assist in managing the volunteer program to ensure a flourishing opportunity for volunteers to serve in various roles aligning with AMOREM’s mission, vision and values. Her office is located on AMOREM’s Valdese campus.

A large portion of her responsibilities include volunteer recruitment in Burke County. She will organize and conduct training for volunteers, manage the placement and development of volunteers, organize events for volunteer teams and more.

“After I retired from teaching, I prayed that I would find a second career with a mission that was centered on helping others,” says Link. “The chance to work at AMOREM feels like an answered prayer. It is truly a privilege to be surrounded by dedicated individuals committed to offering comfort, care and compassion to those experiencing the end-of-life journey.”
