16 month old dies in Lenoir daycare

On Monday, May 19th, 2025, at approximately 2:43 p.m., officers from the Lenoir Police Department, along with personnel from the Lenoir Fire Department and Caldwell County EMS, responded to a report of an infant in cardiac arrest at Creative Beginnings of Lenoir, located at
1966 Morganton Boulevard.

Upon arrival, first responders located a 16-month-old child unresponsive. CPR and other lifesaving measures were immediately initiated. The child was transported to Caldwell UNC Healthcare, where resuscitation efforts continued. Despite the efforts of EMS and hospital staff, the child was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

The Lenoir Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. The investigation remains in its early stages and is ongoing. Investigators are working closely with the North
Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death.

Creative Beginnings has been fully cooperative throughout the investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of this case, no further details will be released at this time.

The Lenoir Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family and all those
affected by this tragic loss.
