Following the initial investigation into the tragic death of a 16-month-old child on Monday, May 19th, 2025, at Creative Beginnings of Lenoir, the Lenoir Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the case.
After receiving preliminary findings from the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and in consultation with the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office, detectives with the Lenoir Police Department have charged Alexandra Lee Coffey for her involvement in the child’s death. Coffey is a 29-year-old employee of the daycare center and a Lenoir resident.
Coffey has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and was taken into custody without incident. She is currently being held at the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $500,000.00 secured bond. Coffey has a first appearance in Caldwell County District Court on May 22nd, 2025.
The investigation remains active, and no additional details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the case.
