Authorities issue more arrest warrants for Catawba County shooting

At a joint press conference on Wednesday authorities with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that  arrest warrants have been issued for several individuals in connection with the mass shooting that took place early Sunday morning on Walnut Acres Drive in Catawba County.

Two warrants with charges of Attempted First Degree Murder have been issued for 19 year old Ke’andre O’neal Mack of Hickory and Toland Huff Jr (residence is unknown). Both men are still at large and considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities say they believe Huff, along with 20 year old Garrin Killian of Lenoir, fired shots from a hill on neighboring property. They also said that several people who were at the residence were armed and were responsible for at least some of the shots fired.

Killian, who was apprehended on Tuesday made his first appearance on Wednesday in Catawba County Court. He is being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder. Killian, who was already out on bond for an April shooting incident also involving Huff, was given a $200,000 bond. That ruling has been heavily scrutinized by the public and by Catawba County Sheriff Donald Brown who expressed his frustration with the decision to grant Killian bond at Wednesday’s press conference.

It was also announced yesterday evening that 21 year old Raekwon Malik Craig of Taylorsville and 22 year old  Patrick Lee Tolbert of Hickory have been arrested and  charged with  three counts of Aiding and Abetting a Person Under 21 Years of Age by Allowing the Possession of Alcoholic Beverages.

North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement identified Craig and Tolbert as the organizers of the house party where the shooting took place. During the press conference authorities said that the party was advertised on social media and that partygoers were required to pay to attend. Craig and Tolbert also provided alcohol to the underage participants.

Following his arrest, Tolbert was released under a $10,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Catawba County court July 14th. Craig is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond. His first first appearance in court is today June 5th.
