City of Hickory seeks public input for Catawba Valley Boulevard improvements

HICKORY – The City of Hickory wants to make safety improvements at the intersection of Catawba Valley Boulevard and Startown Road. To fund the sidewalk and intersection improvements, the City is pursuing a grant through the United States Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant Program.

The City of Hickory is developing a comprehensive transportation safety action plan, referred to as Hickory Moving Forward. The proposed improvements along Catawba Valley Boulevard and at its intersection with Startown Road were identified through the plan’s development process.

Citizens are invited to attend a public meeting on Wednesday, June 18, from 4-6 p.m. at Catawba Valley Community College’s Workforce Solutions Complex (1980 Startown Road) to learn about proposed road improvements, share their feedback, and express their needs.

Feedback from the community is vital to the grant application process, and the City encourages participation from a variety of residents, pedestrians, and motorists.

Those unable to attend the public input meeting, or who have comments or questions, may contact Infrastructure Grants Manager Karen Dickerson at kdickerson@hickorync.gov or 828-323-7488 to learn more and give input on the project.
