It’s summer and the NCDOT Wildflower Program remains an integral part of highway beautification in our state.
The N.C. Department of Transportation Wildflower Program began in 1985 and is maintained by specialists in the agency’s Roadside Environmental unit.
Although beautiful the NCDOT request that you please enjoy them from a distance. These areas are not designed for public access and stopping on the highway can pose significant safety risks to both you and others on the road.
