On June 25,2025, at approximately 11:14 AM, Alexander County 911 received a call of a domestic disturbance at 3603 NC Hwy 90 E, Taylorsville. Upon arrival, officers located, James Roger Morton, suffering from a single gunshot wound. EMS was requested and the victim was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital where he was airlifted to Baptist Hospital. The investigation revealed that Kelly Jerome Warren had shot the victim through an exterior door following a verbal argument.
Kelly Jerome Warren W/M, age 45, of Taylorsville, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury. Warren is currently being held under a $50,000 secured bond. He has a first appearance in District Court on June 30, 2025.
