Caldwell County Soil and Water Begins Waterway Restoration Project along Yadkin River

On July 7, Caldwell County Soil and Water will begin a waterway restoration project along the Yadkin River in Happy Valley.
Because of the work, which is expected to take approximately 45 days, the Happy Valley Greenway will be closed from the Happy Valley Filling Station to the area just past the Happy Valley Medical Clinic. The parking lot adjacent to the Filling Station will also be closed.
Caldwell County Soil and Water received a $500,000 grant from the Streamflow Rehabilitation Assistance Program (StRAP) to cover the cost of the restoration project.
StRAP funds projects that help reduce flooding, restore streams, and protect the integrity of drainage infrastructure across North Carolina’s waterways.
StRAP funds a variety of projects aimed at restoring streams and reducing flood risk. Projects include stream debris removal, streambank stabilization, stream restoration, flood control structure repair, and sediment removal.
