Burke County, NC — July 7, 2025 — This week marks the final chance for Burke County residents to apply in person for the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) program related to Hurricane Helene. After this week, residents can still apply by phone at 501-604-6453, but in-person meetings for registration will no longer be available.
Due to other scheduled events at the Foothills Higher Education Center, PPDR representatives will be available at a new location for this final week:
Burke County Commissioners’ Chambers
110 N Green Street, Morganton, NC
• Tuesday, July 8 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Thursday, July 10 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
To qualify for assistance, debris must be a direct result of Hurricane Helene and located within Burke County. Additionally, removal must be in the public interest, meaning the debris poses a threat to health, safety, or property if left unaddressed.
Eligible debris types include:
• Vegetative debris
(such as fallen trees and branches)
• Construction and demolition debris
• White goods (large appliances)
• Household hazardous waste
Residents must provide the following documentation to apply:
• Most recent property tax bill or record
• Valid driver’s license or state-issued ID
• Utility bill from the time of the hurricane
• Homeowners insurance policy
• House deed (only if applying for demolition of a structure)
DebrisTech personnel will be on-site to accept applications during the above times. This is the final in person registration opportunity for Burke County’s PPDR program.
