CATAWBA COUNTY, NC – Catawba County Schools (CCS) has announced a new partnership with AI for Education as part of a three-year initiative to implement generative AI (GenAI) across its 28 schools. This groundbreaking collaboration is supported by a competitive, state-funded grant program unveiled today by the North Carolina State Board of Education.
The initiative aims to build AI literacy across the entire school community—including students, educators, administrators, and caregivers—while developing and testing GenAI tools designed to enhance instruction and student learning. A key focus of the program is preparing students for success in an increasingly AI-driven world.
The proposal for the initiative was developed jointly by CCS and AI for Education, combining the organization’s expertise in responsible AI implementation and change management with CCS’s forward-thinking vision, strong understanding of its school community, and commitment to innovation.
This partnership highlights the critical role of collaboration in equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an AI-augmented future. Both organizations have expressed enthusiasm for the work ahead and a shared commitment to transparency, with plans to release best practices and case studies throughout the course of the project.
