City of Lenoir Police Chief Andy Wilson swore his oath of office earlier this month during the City of Lenoir City Council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025.
Mayor Joe Gibbons administered the oath to Chief Wilson. Wilson’s wife Jessica and son Lawson held the Bible for Chief Wilson.
“We’re so excited that you are going to be our new chief,” Mayor Gibbons said. “You have been with us for a long time. We appreciate all that you have done and all that you meant to us.”
Chief Wilson said he is very thankful for all the support that City Council, staff, and the community have given to Lenoir Police Department over the years.
“The support that we have from our Mayor, our Council, our Manager, and other Departments within the City is overwhelming. As Police of Chief, it’s very comforting to know that we have that support,” Chief Wilson said. “I have a wife that supports me and a son that is amazing. I’m blessed.”
After the oath, Police Chaplain Terry Hunt prayed a blessing of protection for Chief Wilson and the Lenoir Police Department.
