On Monday Morganton Public Safety announced the arrest of Christopher Coolidge Bailey of 107 N Matthews St, Morganton following an investigation into alleged sexual assault.
On 7/31/25 Morganton Public Safety Officers were dispatched to 107 N Matthews St in reference to an alleged sexual assault. When officers arrived they spoke with a juvenile victim who stated that she had been sexually assaulted by her adopted father. The Morganton Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene for investigation. Investigators conducted several interviews and seized electronic evidence. During the investigation it was determined that Christopher Bailey was the adopted father of the victim.
On 8/15/25 Bailey was arrested. The arrest was made after investigators conducted an interview with Bailey at MDPS Headquarters. Bailey was charged with committing a sex act by a substitute parent and incest. Bailey was taken to the Burke County Jail where he is being held under a $100,000.00 bond.
