UPDATE: The victim in the Burke County homicide investigation has been identified as 22 year old Matthew Yury Roderick. Roderick’s body was discovered on Friday the 22nd when deputies from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man suffering a cardiac arrest. The cause of death or the circumstances surrounding Roderick’s death have not been release, but authorities have arrested 27 year old Chad Allen Macjarrett of Morganton and 26 year old Donaven James Purcell, also of Morganton and charged each with Second Degree Murder.

Authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide investigation in Burke County.
Deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a cardiac arrest call at 3105 NC 126 on Friday. Upon arrival, deputies found a male deceased at the scene and immediately launched an investigation.
The two suspects arrested were identified as 27 year old Chad Allen Macjarrett of Morganton and 26 year old Donaven James Purcell, also of Morganton.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Macjarrett and Purcell were taken into custody without incident and have each been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder. They are being held in the Burke County Detention Center without bond. Both are scheduled to make their first court appearance today, Monday August 25th.
No further information regarding the incident has been made available at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
