Morganton, NC – Burke County Government, in proud partnership with the City of Morganton, invites community members and the press to attend a special documentary premiere event on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Catawba River Soccer Complex.
This moving short film highlights the profound and lasting impact of Hurricane Helene on Burke County and pays tribute to:
· First responders who courageously stepped forward during the crisis,
· Preparedness teams who worked tirelessly before the storm struck,
· Residents and families are directly affected by the devastation, and
· Community members who continue to recover from the storm’s long-term effects.
“This documentary is more than a remembrance; it’s a time for the entire county to come together to celebrate the strength, unity, and compassion that emerged from a time of adversity,” said Brian Epley, Burke County Manager. “We honor every individual who played a part in responding to Hurricane Helene and in helping the community rebuild.”
“It has been incredible to see how our community has come together over the past year. Even though we have a long way to go in the recovery process, we can still reflect on what we have overcome thus far. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of a community of such resilience and strength.”
The event is free and open to the public. Seating, light refreshments, and a raffle will be provided to attendees. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating and to take part in this heartfelt community gathering.
