Dave Faherty with WSOC reports that attorneys for a police chief in Catawba County have filed a motion to have charges against him dismissed.
Earlier this year the grand jury indicted Brookford Police chief Willie Armstrong on charges of destroying evidence in a 30-year old cold case murder. Now the motion says Armstrong made multiple efforts to obtain the complete case file from the SBI and the sheriffs office and was either denied or only provided partial records. The sheriff’s office says it did turn over the file in November of last year.
Brookford is a small municipality in Catawba County that’s located just south of I40 and east of US Hwy 321. Brookford was incorporated in 1907 and has a population of approximately 500 residents. Brookford is considered part of the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton metropolitan statistical area.
