Taylorville man extradited from Ohio in connection with Alexander County homicide

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:03 PM, deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located at 209 Stan De La Drive, Taylorsville, regarding a death investigation.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, identified as Jamie Suzette McCloud, a 54-year-old white female of Taylorsville. The body was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for an autopsy. Following the examination, the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as homicide.

During the investigation, it was determined that McCloud and the suspect, William Marshal Shook, were involved in a dating relationship.

At the scene, deputies discovered that the victim’s vehicle — a 2005 gray Toyota Tacoma — was missing. A warrant was issued for William Marshal Shook, a 32-year-old white male from Claremont, NC, for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

On Thursday, October 9,2025 a subsequent traffic stop, deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio located the stolen vehicle in Lancaster, Ohio and took Shook into custody on the outstanding larceny warrant.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, Shook waived extradition during a court appearance in Ohio. He was transported back to North Carolina and booked into the Alexander County Detention Center on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Upon return, William Marshal Shook was additionally charged with one count of Murder in connection to the death of Jamie McCloud. He is currently being held without bond, with his first court appearance scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, in Alexander County District Court.
