Two suspects arrested in connection with Catawba County murder

On Tuesday Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence on Swinging Bridge Road in reference to a welfare check request.

After failing to get a response, deputies made entry into the home  belonging to 75 year old David Mize. Mize and his vehicle were unaccounted for and no one was at the residence, but deputies did discover signs of foul play.

An investigation was initiated and led deputies to a location in Caldwell County where it’s reported that the body of David Mize was located in the trunk of his vehicle at a wrecker service.

Two suspects were identified and arrested in connection with the murder of Mize. 31 year old Cecil Ray Traylor Jr was arrested Tuesday night following a police chase. 35 year old Tara Melinda Jackson was taken into custody Wednesday morning at a retail location. 

Traylor and Jackson, both residence of Catawba County we charged with murder and are being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond

Both have first appearances in Catawba County District Court Thursday, October 23rd.
