City of Lenoir Mayor Joe Gibbons proclaimed December 15 to be Bill of Rights Day in Lenoir, NC. PROCLAMATION IN HONOR OF BILL OF RIGHTS DAY
WHEREAS, December 15, 2025, marks the 234th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution, guaranteeing fundamental freedoms and rights to all Americans; and
WHEREAS, these cherished rights, including freedom of speech, religion, the press, and the right to due process, form the bedrock of our Republic and our enduring pursuit of liberty and justice; and
WHEREAS, it is vital for all citizens, especially our youth, to understand the profound importance of these constitutional protections and the responsibilities that accompany them; and
WHEREAS, celebrating Bill of Rights Day encourages public reflection on our Nation’s commitment to constitutional principles and the ongoing effort to ensure a more perfect Union.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph L. Gibbons, Mayor of the City of Lenoir, North Carolina and on behalf of the Lenoir City Council and all the citizens, do hereby proclaim December 15 as “Bill of Rights Day” in the City of Lenoir and call upon all citizens to observe this day by studying the Constitution, engaging in civic discourse, and reaffirming our dedication to the rights and freedoms it secures.
