A direct-to-customer furniture company based in Charlotte will invest $9 million to create 45 jobs for a new manufacturing facility in the Catawba County town of Claremont, the governor’s office announced Wednesday.

Coley Hull founded Coley Home in 2019, which has had a manufacturing facility in Claremont since at least 2021, according to a report in Furniture Today. Claremont is about 45 miles northwest of Charlotte.

The new facility will add 75,000 square feet of space for manufacturing operations to meet the demands of the market, along with a Coley-branded showroom and office to showcase the products.

“We could not be more excited to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility adjacent to our current facility,” said Hull. “This expansion will support our continued growth and our mission to share an exceptional North Carolina craft with the world.”

The new positions will pay an average wage of $61,911, or 14% higher than the current Catawba County average wage of $54,280.

Coley Home offers a variety of furniture styles, featuring 150 fabrics and numerous trim options for customization. Its website boasts that it can ship furniture to a customer’s home within 10 days of the order.

Hull attended NC State University and spent several years studying and designing textiles in New York before moving back to her hometown of Charlotte to develop her e-commerce furniture line. Hull could not immediately be reached for comment.

A performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help the company expand in North Carolina. Coley Home will also receive a matching grant from local government.
