Commercial building burns early Saturday morning in Hildebran

HILDEBRAN – At approximately 12:11 AM, the Burke County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a commercial structure fire at ZipTied Performance, located at 407 US HWY 70 E in Hildebran. Icard Township Fire / Rescue, Lovelady Fire / Rescue, Drowning Creek Fire Department, and Burke County EMS were dispatched to the scene, as well as a Ladder Company from Long View Fire Department. The first arriving fire unit confirmed active fire conditions with heavy fire through the roof of the structure in a single-story commercial building.

Firefighters gained control of the fire and requested the Burke County Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. Burke County Emergency Management was also dispatched to the location due to the release of used motor oil to the ground and roadway. One civilian was treated and released by Burke County EMS for fire-related injuries; no firefighter injuries were reported. Multiple vehicles sustained damage ranging from minor to total loss during this fire. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation by the Burke County Fire Marshal’s Office. All agencies cleared the scene at approximately 6:00 AM.

ROADWAY CAUTION NEAR INCIDENT AREA
Use caution when driving on US HWY 70 E in this area; sand has been placed on the roadway by the NC Department of Transportation at the intersection of US HWY 70 E and Second ST SE in Hildebran due to the release of used motor oil from a storage tank that affected the roadway.
