Investigation leads to drug trafficking arrest in Caldwell County

Sheriff Kevin H. Bean announces that on January 9, 2026, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies made arrested a Methamphetamine Trafficker. The joint investigation ended with the seizure of a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine and US currency. The investigation involved the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and The Lenoir Police Department.
On January 9, 2026, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction in Lenoir. During the stop, Sheriff’s Office K-9 Egan was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics, Deputies searched the vehicle and located approximately 136 grams of Methamphetamine.
The driver, Julius Daniel McGuire, of Lenoir, age 69, was arrested and charged with two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine. He was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
The Methamphetamine seized has a total street value of $20,000 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines.
