East Fleming Carjacker Arrested

The suspect who broke into two dozen vehicles, multiple buildings, and attempted to take a family vehicle by force along East Fleming Drive in Morganton in December has finally been located and arrested. Investigators with Morganton Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with community tips, a thorough investigation, and assistance from surrounding agencies were able to identify Bradley Thomas Sain, 43, of Granite Falls, and formally charge him with multiple felonies and additional misdemeanors. He was arrested without incident on 1/13/2026. Sain remains confined in a detention center under a $778,618 secured bond that includes the following THIRTY charges below from MDPS, and additional outstanding child support warrants:

  • 1 Attempted Common Law Robbery (Felony)
  • 24 B&E into Vehicle (Felony)
  • 2 Attempt Break/Enter building (Misdemeanor)
  • 1 Simple Assault (Misdemeanor)
  • 1 Break and/or Enter building (Felony)
  • 1 Larceny after Break/Enter building (Felony)
