HICKORY – The City of Hickory will begin selling mulch and leaf compost on Friday, Feb. 27, just in time for spring landscaping projects.
Single-ground mulch and leaf compost will be available at the City’s Yard Waste Facility, located at 310 Cloninger Mill Road NE, off N.C. 127 near the bridge that crosses Lake Hickory. Weather permitting, the facility will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting Feb. 27.
The mulch is made from brush collected by City crews throughout the year, and the compost is produced from leaves gathered during the annual loose-leaf collection program, which runs from mid-November through mid-January.
Pricing is $25 per 3-yard scoop (approximately a full-size pickup truck load) for both mulch and leaf compost.
