CCC&TI’s Small Business Center to Host “Road Ready” Workshop on Food Truck Fundamentals.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Small Business Center, in partnership with EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems and NC State Extension, will host a two-day workshop for those interested in starting or maintaining their own food truck business. The workshop, “Road Ready: Food Truck Fundamentals” will include tips on how to successfully launch and sustain a food truck business.

Experts with Environmental Health & Safety, the Street Food Institute, Mountain BizWorks and Bigger Tables Culinary & Service Consulting will share guidelines and information on road and mobile kitchen safety, legal requirements and permits for operation and tips for how to ensure profitability.

Participants will also learn more about tools, resources and connections that can help build a strong business foundation for success in the food truck industry from experienced practitioners. In addition, successful food trucks and Small Business Center clients “Cowlick’s Moos & Chews” and “Egg Rollin” will be serving lunch as well as sharing their personal entrepreneurial stories with attendees.

The two-day workshop will be held on Wednesday March 25 and Thursday, March 26 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center in Boone. Cost for the workshop is $50 which covers breakfast and lunch for both days. Preregistration is required and space is limited.

On Wednesday evening, participants are invited to venture out to King Street in Boone for a meal and to share their own experiences, goals and plans for the future. (The Wednesday evening meal is not covered by the registration fee.)
