On 4/11/2026, the Taylorsville Police Department responded to a hit and run that occurred at The Cutting Edge Hair Salon located on NC Hwy 90 East.
Officers arrived on scene and found extensive damage to the structure. After gathering numerous eye witness statements, officers were able to identify the vehicle involved and the passenger. Deputy’s with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office checked the passengers registered address in Hiddenite but were unable to locate him or the vehicle.
Officers later located the vehicle hidden behind a residence off of Saunders Lane after the passenger had been spotted walking down Hwy 90 East. Officers were able to make arrests and impound the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Sheila Harrington of Hiddenite. She was charged with Hit and Run with property damage, Failure to Report an Accident, Driving while license revoked, injury to real property exceeding $1,000 in damage, and failure to maintain lane control. Due to being out on a previous bond, she was placed on a 48 hour hold.
The passenger identified as Ronald Roop of Hiddenite was charged with resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer. He was also out on a previous bond and was placed under a 48 hour hold.
More charges including narcotics related charges are pending at this time. We would like to thank the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for their assistance in this investigation.
