On Thursday, 27 year old Ronald David Rumley Jr. of Valdese died as a result of wounds he received on May the 11th during an attempted robbery at the Love’s Travel Stop along Highway 10 in Catawba County.
According to investigators Rumsley was there to meet 27 year old Jontavious Littlejohn of Lincolnton. It’s reported that Littlejohn got into Rumley’s vehicle while another unnamed suspect pulled a female occupant identified as Shayla Connelly of Marion from the vehicle as Rumsley attempted to drive away. Littlejohn shot Runsley multiple times before the vehicle collided with a utility pole. Connelly and her infant child who was also present were not injured during the incident. No further information has been made available regarding the second suspect.
Littlejohn was later arrested in Orangeburg County South Carolina and now faces a First Degree Murder charge
