Christmas Eve Service

The Chapel of Rest will host a traditional Christmas Eve service at 4 o’clock on Friday afternoon, December 24th at the Chapel on Highway 268 in Happy Valley. The public is cordially invited to attend. Dress is casual.

Speaker for the service is the Rev. Dr. Harold (Hal) Bennett of Baltimore, MD who has been in Lenoir since July 2020 with his wife Etta Holloway of Bowie, MD. Rev. Bennett is Pastor at the Dulatown Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, a member of the Western Presbytery of North Carolina, and a member of the African American Advisory Forum for the Presbytery. The Dulatown Presbyterian Church Choir will accompany Rev. Bennett for the service, to sing in the acoustically perfect sanctuary.  Hal has a Master of Education Degree from Georgia State University in Counseling and Psychological Services, a Master of Theology Degree from Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and a Doctoral Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is a retired member of the U.S. Army Reserves and is also retired from the federal government where he was previously employed by the Central Intelligence Agency as a Senior Security Intelligence Officer. Consequently, he has experienced a good bit of world travel, and has been involved in several fighting conflicts.
