On Wednesday, March 30, at approximately 8:05 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on Bethel Road near North River Ridge Road. A 2007 Honda Civic was traveling east on Bethel Road, crossed the centerline, ran off the road to the left, collided with a ditch, and overturned several times. The driver, Jeremy Lamar Saner, 25, of Hamptonville, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The initial investigation indicates speed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
