CORRECTIONAL OFFICER CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY PROVIDING DRUGS TO INMATES

TAYLORSVILLE – A correctional officer has been arrested for allegedly providing drugs to inmates.  Twenty-nine year old Caroline Nicole Lyon of Statesville, NC reportedly provided suboxone and synthetic marijuana (also known as K2) to inmates, according to the press release.  These narcotics have a prison value of approximately $300,000.
Lyon, who was reportedly an employee of the North Carolina Department of Corrections, was arrested on Wednesday, August 31, and was charged with one count of Felony Providing Drugs to Inmates.  The arrest is the result of an extended investigation by The North Carolina Department of Corrections and Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Detectives. 
She was placed under a $10,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of Monday, Sept. 12, 2022 in Alexander County District Court.  
This investigation is continuing.
