The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ronnie Lynn Benfield, 55, on February 5, 2023. He has been charged with trafficking in fentanyl, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to a press release issued on February 15, an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy responded to a request for assistance from the Mooresville Police Department, which was investigating an automobile accident. When the officer arrived on the scene, Ronnie Lynn Benfield spoke to him about narcotics, stating that he had some at his residence on Mount Mourne Loop. Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies went to Benfield’s residence, where a search was conducted. In the kitchen sink, several chunks of a white substance covered in water were discovered. The substance was tested, and it was determined to be fentanyl.
