There was a fatal accident Saturday evening in Lincoln County on Unity Church Road near Pine Lake Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 27-year-old Demarco Jauan Carthcart of Charlotte was traveling west on Unity Church Road when he drove off the side of the road and struck a tree. According to the report, excessive speed and reckless driving led to the accident.
